  • The language pack you're using
  • A brief description of what you were doing when the issue occurred
  • Whether the problem happens every time or intermittently

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about using Lengio.

Is Lengio free? What does Lengio Plus include?

Lengio is free to download and free to use every day, with no account required and no ads. The free tier covers one language, five new lessons and three practice sessions a day, ten AI Chat Coach messages, the first few conversation videos, three cultural notes, and the first 100 words of each category.

Lengio Plus removes those limits and adds the rest: all 25 languages, the full lesson path beyond the beginner arc, the entire vocabulary catalogue, every conversation video, unlimited AI conversations, all six games, card customisation, cloud backup, voice selection, and your full statistics history.

Plus is available monthly, annually, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in your own currency inside the app before you confirm anything, and any free-trial terms appear on the same screen.

Billing is handled entirely by the store you downloaded from, never by us. On iPhone and iPad Apple bills you — manage or cancel under Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android Google bills you — manage or cancel in Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and uninstalling the app does not cancel one.

Can I turn off usage analytics?

Yes — Settings → Share Usage Data inside the app. Switching it off stops collection immediately and discards anything still queued on your device. Nothing in the app behaves differently either way.

Lengio records anonymous events like which screens are opened and which lessons are finished, so we can see what to build next. There is no name, email, advertising identifier, IP address, or location attached, and no third-party analytics SDK is involved. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

What does Lengio need an internet connection for?

Most of Lengio works without a connection. Lessons, practice, games, reviewing vocabulary, the widget, and attaching your own photos all function locally once a language pack is downloaded.

A connection is required for: downloading a language pack or fresh content, streaming a conversation video, the AI speech partner (which reaches our AI service in real time), the in-app image search, and app updates from the App Store or Google Play.

How do I download a language pack?

Open Lengio, go to Settings, and tap Language Packs. Select the language you want and tap Download. We recommend using Wi-Fi, as packs can be several hundred megabytes. Once downloaded, all content is available offline.

Can I learn more than one language at a time?

With Lengio Plus, yes — all 25 languages are unlocked and you switch between them from the language selector on the home screen. Progress, bookmarks, and daily streaks are tracked separately per language, so nothing is lost when you switch back and forth.

The free tier covers one language, which is the one you pick during setup. You can change it later, but doing so resets your study progress, so Plus is the way to genuinely learn two at once.

How do I add my own photo to a word?

Custom card images are a Lengio Plus feature. On the free tier, tapping a word's picture shows a Custom images — Plus option instead.

With Plus, open any word's card and tap its picture. The menu offers Add from Library (or Replace from Library once an image is set), Search the Web, and Remove Image.

Images from your library are stored on your device and are never uploaded or shared. Search the Web opens Google Image Search in an in-app browser, so your search term goes to Google — the picture you pick is still saved only on your device.

The widget isn't showing on my home screen — how do I set it up?

On iPhone: long-press the home screen until icons begin to jiggle, tap the + button in the top-left corner, search for Lengio, and pick a widget size.

On Android: long-press an empty area of the home screen, tap Widgets, scroll to Lengio, then drag the size you want onto the screen.

The widget displays your word of the day and daily phrase and refreshes automatically. Exact steps vary a little between Android manufacturers.

I missed a day — did I lose my streak?

Streaks reset if a day is skipped — but your vocabulary progress, bookmarks, and completed words are never deleted. You can continue exactly where you left off; the streak is simply a motivational layer on top of your real progress.

How do I change my daily word goal?

Go to Settings → Study → Words per Session inside the app and choose 10, 20, or 50. Lengio uses that number to pace how many new words each session introduces, and it fills the daily-goal ring on the Home screen.

How do I delete my data?

Your learning data lives on your device. To remove it:

  • Erase your progress — Settings → Erase All My Progress within the app
  • Remove everything on iPhone — Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Lengio → Delete App
  • Remove everything on Android — Settings → Apps → Lengio → Storage → Clear storage, then uninstall

If your device backs up to iCloud (iPhone) or to your Google account (Android), Lengio data may be included in that backup. Manage it in your iCloud settings or in Android → Settings → Google → Backup.

If you created a Lengio account, that is a separate thing and it is deleted separately — in the app under Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by email if you no longer have the app. Full instructions, and what we keep afterwards, are at lengio.app/delete-account.

How do I request a refund for an in-app purchase?

Purchases are processed by the store you bought from, and only that store can issue a refund — we have no ability to charge or refund you on either platform.

App Store: visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, find the Lengio purchase and select Request a Refund. Apple typically decides within 48 hours.

Google Play: visit your Google Play order history, find the Lengio purchase and choose Request a refund. Google offers self-service refunds within a short window after purchase; after that the request goes to Google for review.

What devices does Lengio run on?

Lengio requires iOS 17 or later on iPhone and iPad, or Android 8.0 or later on Android phones and tablets.

Progress is stored on the device, so it does not transfer between an iPhone and an Android phone — see the question below.

I switched from iPhone to Android — can I move my progress?

Not automatically. Lengio keeps your progress on the device, which is why it works offline and why we never hold a copy of your study data — a Lengio account, if you have one, records who you are and what you have paid for, never what you have learned. Apple's iCloud and Google's backup service each restore only to their own platform, so there is no path between them.

A Lengio Plus purchase does not carry across either — the App Store and Google Play are separate billing systems, and neither can see a purchase made in the other. If you bought Plus on one platform and have moved to the other, email support@lengio.app and we will do what we can within the limits the stores allow.

Is Lengio suitable for children?

Lengio is rated 4+ on the App Store, carries a general-audience content rating on Google Play, and contains no objectionable content. However, we do not market the app to children under 13, and there are no features specifically designed for that age group.

Two features are worth a parent knowing about: the AI speech partner generates its replies automatically and is not reviewed by a person before you see them, and Search the Web for card images returns Google results that we do not filter.

Can I suggest a new language or feature?

Absolutely. Send language and feature suggestions to support@lengio.app with "Feature Request" in the subject line. We read all submissions, though we can't commit to timelines for specific requests.
